The best-kept secret in sports is the benefit of private coaching. Often hidden to sports fans and many casual sports participants is the value of personal instruction.

At all levels of competition, from grade school on up to the pro ranks, a team’s head coach must focus on the big picture: deciding the lineup, thinking about overall strategy, building team chemistry, etc. Rarely, if ever, does a head coach have the time to work consistently with individual players on the team. Many coaches lack the knowledge to coach individual skill development, anyway. In sports, there is a simple perception that the player brings the talent, and the coach manages the collective talent of the players on the team.
